Larry Kutner

Larry grew up in New York City and learned to sail in his 30s on Minnesota lakes. Since then, he’s sailed in Boston Harbor, the Caribbean, French Polynesia and the San Francisco Bay Area. He thinks of himself as a kicked-back cruiser, not a racer, and joined Spinnaker as a club member in 2014.

Originally trained as a psychologist, he spent most of his career as a journalist, a faculty member at Harvard Medical School, the executive director of a large educational foundation, and the author of six books on child development. He currently works as an independent consultant on public health and behavioral health issues.

He’s on the Board of Trustees of the Marine Science Institute in Redwood City and sometimes crews on its 90-foot research vessel Robert G. Brownlee.
